Live music in Wilderness happens at Beach House Bar & Kitchen. Sunday Sessions are our weekly live-music ritual on the Garden Route, starting at 3 PM with bands, wood-fired pizza, ice-cold drinks, and an ocean view that does most of the work. Thursday open mic nights run with One Two Sound Solutions for anyone who wants to bring a guitar, voice, or set of songs to the small stage.
Sunday Sessions: Wilderness live music every week
Sunday Sessions at Beach House Bar & Kitchen is the longest-running weekly live-music event in Wilderness. It is the meeting point for everyone on the Garden Route who wants real music, real food, and real people, all in one spot above the beach.
Doors are open from 3 PM. Acts are local musicians and travelling artists who pass through the Garden Route. The set list moves between acoustic, blues, indie, soul, and the occasional shaka-and-shoes singalong. Get a pizza out of the wood-fired oven, claim a bench on the deck, and the Indian Ocean does the lighting.

Thursday open mic with One Two Sound Solutions
Every Thursday Beach House runs an open mic in partnership with One Two Sound Solutions, the local sound crew who sort the rig. If you play, sing, or write, this is the easiest stage in the Garden Route to step on.

Wood-fired pizza, drinks, and a deck above the ocean
The bar is a small, warm room with the wood-fired pizza oven against one wall and the deck opening straight onto the ocean. Pizza is fresh, the bar serves craft beer, South African wine, classic cocktails, and soft drinks. The kitchen pairs pizza with the music so the rhythm of the night never drops.
The Bar & Kitchen is open from 4 PM every day. On Sunday Session days we open earlier so the music has room to start at 3 PM. See our menu page for what is currently coming out of the oven.
How to find Beach House Bar & Kitchen in Wilderness
Beach House Bar & Kitchen is part of Beach House Wilderness Backpackers, set on the hillside above the main Wilderness Beach. It is 100 metres from the sand, on the village side of the lagoon, walkable from Wilderness village centre and most accommodation in Wilderness.
- From Wilderness village: Walk past Milkwood Village, along the beach road, the hostel sign is on your left.
- From George (15 km west): N2 east, take the Wilderness exit, follow the beach road.
- From Sedgefield (20 km east): N2 west, take the Wilderness exit.
- Parking: Limited on-site parking. Street parking on the beach road, generally easy outside summer high-season Saturday evenings.

What time does live music start at Beach House Bar & Kitchen?
Sunday Sessions live music starts at 3 PM every Sunday. The Bar & Kitchen opens earlier on those days so the kitchen is ready when the first act starts. Thursday open mic runs from the evening, sign-up at the bar from 6 PM.
Do I have to book to come to Sunday Sessions?
No booking is needed for Sunday Sessions. The deck and bar are first-come first-served. On busy long-weekend Sundays it can fill up around sunset, so come earlier if you want a deck table.
Is there a cover charge for live music?
No, Sunday Sessions and Thursday open mic are free to attend. You pay for what you eat and drink at the bar.
Can I play at the open mic if I am visiting Wilderness?
Yes. Walk in, sign up at the bar, bring your own instrument or use the house PA and amps run by One Two Sound Solutions. Two to three songs per slot. Travellers are welcome on the stage.
